Following a review, L.L. Bean has selected The Via Agency as its new agency of record, replacing incumbent Erwin Penland on the account. L.L. Bean spent $14.6 million on U.S. measured media last year.

North Carolina-based grocery store chain Food Lion has moved its creative business from Doner Detroit to GSD&M without a review. Food Lion spent $11 million on U.S. measured media in 2016.

Russell Stover Chocolates, the largest U.S. manufacturer of boxed chocolates, has appointed VML as its agency of record.

Kill Cliff, a manufacturer of workout recovery drinks, named Erwin Penland as its first-ever agency of record.

New York Road Runners named Brooklyn-based Madwell creative agency of record for the TCS New York City Marathon.

After two years in the role, Jim Elliott is stepping down as global chief creative officer of Arnold Worldwide. Parent company Havas does not plan to name a replacement for the moment.

Deutsch has hired Heather English and Marques Gartrell as VP/creative directors.

Kate Catalinac and Corinne Goode have joined BBDO San Francisco as creative directors.

Blast Radius has hired Kevin Drew Davis as chief creative officer. Davis joins from DDB San Francisco where he was chief creative officer.

Raleigh-based Baldwin& has hired Russell Dodson as co-executive creative director. He replaces agency co-founder David Baldwin in the role. Baldwin is transitioning into the new role of CEO.

Vin Farrell has returned to R/GA New York as EVP/global head of R/GA Studios. Farrell was most recently global chief content officer at Havas.

Actor Patrick Dempsey has joined the roster at Independent Media.

Unit9 Films has signed director Jacob Hinmon to its roster worldwide.

MPC announced the launch of MPC Life, a new specialist character and creature group within the global MPC Advertising team.

Vadim Turchin has joined MPC NY as CG Supervisor.

MPC LA has named Ryan McDougal and Dave White as Heads of 3D.

Nice Shoes has added beauty artist Aurélien Teurlai to its roster.

Misc.

The Stagwell Group has acquired a minority stake in creative consultancy Wolfgang, founded by former David & Goliath executives Mike Geiger, Seema Miller and Colin Jeffrey.

AKQA has appointed Mark Uttley to group strategy director at its San Francisco office.
