Industry Update Week(s) of August 21st & 28th


Following a review, Macy’s has chosen BBDO New York as its new creative agency of record. The department store had previously been working with BBH on a project basis, and had a long-term contract with Figliulo & Partners. Macy’s spent $681 million on measured media in 2016.

Carnival Cruise Line is set to name Anomaly its new creative agency of record following a review that included Anomaly, Droga5 and R/GA in the final round.

Hershey has consolidated its agency roster with MDC Partners agencies CP+B and Anomaly. It will end its relationship with Havas and Arnold at the end of the year. Hershey spent around $726 million on measured media across its brands in 2014.

AB InBev has selected Fallon as creative agency of record for its Lime-A-Rita brand, replacing incumbent FCB Chicago. Fallon will run the account out of its New York office. AB InBev spent nearly $15 million on measured media for Lime-A-Rita in 2016.

The U.S. Army has extended its current contract with McCann Worldgroup for another full year.

Deutsch New York has appointed Able Parris SVP/group creative director. Parris joins from Translation, where he was head of design and group creative director.

Droga5 has hired Donnell Johnson, Matty Smith and Shannon Washington as creative directors.

215 McCann has hired Mandi Holdorf as executive producer.


Smuggler has signed director Ben Tricklebank for global commercial representation.

Director Lauren Caris Cohan has joined the roster at Stink Films.

Washington Square Films has signed director Mark Pellington for U.S. representation.

Director Zak Razvi has joined Furlined for commercial representation in the U.S. and U.K.

Little Minx has added Finnish director Pekka Hara to its roster for U.S. representation.

Ben Giroux has joined the roster at Superlounge.

Dom Goldman has joined Iconoclast as creative director.


Framestore has appointed Josh King as senior VFX producer.

Zoic Studios has promoted John Kilshaw to creative director.


Erik Sollenberg has been named co-global CEO of CP+B. He will share the role with current global CEO Lori Senecal until she retires at the end of the year. Sollenberg joins CP+B from Swedish agency Forsman & Bodenfors where he has been CEO for the last 14 years.

Wieden + Kennedy Portland has promoted Karrelle Dixon to managing director, replacing Tom Blessington who is leaving to join YouTube as VP of brand, media and experiences.

Yumi Prentice has been appointed president and managing partner of David & Goliath.

Frances Great has been promoted to CEO of BBH LA.

Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners has hired David Eastman, previously global head of digital and CEO of JWT North America, as chief operating officer.
