Industry Update Week(s) of September 18th & 25th


Footwear brand Asics has selected Saatchi & Saatchi as its new global creative agency of record. Saatchi & Saatchi will handle the account out of its Los Angeles and Tokyo offices. Asics spent approximately $36.5 million on measured media in the U.S. in 2015.

MillerCoors has picked Alma DDB to handle creative duties on Sol beer.

Following a review, Butler Shine Stern & Partners has been named agency of record for Mitsubishi.

Mini USA, the BMW brand that went into review six months ago after longtime agency Butler Shine Stern & Partners resigned the account, has chosen Pereira & O’Dell and 360i as its newest U.S. agency partners.

Los Angeles-based Mistress has been named creative agency of record for Sambazon, and been awarded creative duties for the wholesale division of clothing brand American Apparel following a competitive review.

McDonald’s has hired Huge to handle global digital design and user experience work. Huge will open a Chicago office to service the account.

CP+B has hired Linus Karlsson as global chief creative officer, based in CP+B’s office in Boulder, Colo. As part of Karlsson’s hiring, MDC Partners’ has acquired MING, and brought on MING CEO Brian DiLorenzo to lead the company.

Havas has acquired social media and digital shop The 88, bringing on Harry Bernstein, founder and chief creative officer, as chief creative officer of the New York office, succeeding Toygar Bazarkaya in the role.

DDB Chicago has hired Colin Selikow as executive creative director on the Miller Lite and Mars Wrigley Confectionery accounts. Selikow joins from Leo Burnett.

John Pratt has been promoted to EVP/head of integrated production at Energy BBDO.


Ruffian has signed director Neil Huxley.

Chelsea Pictures has signed directing collective The Bear.

Ben Strebel has joined the roster at Skunk for U.K. and U.S. representation.

Station Film has signed directing duo Henry Chen and Ssong Yang (Henry/Ssong) to its roster for U.S. representation.

Director Mary-Sue Masson has joined the roster at CoMPANY Films.

Director Gaysorn Thavat has rejoined the roster at Grand Large.

Visual effects supervisor Tim Davies, senior executive producer Sue Troyan and owner/partner Darcy Parsons have opened L.A.-based visual effects company Kevin.


Former Wieden + Kennedy partner and executive creative director, Mark Fitzloff has launched his own independent, Portland-based agency, Opinionated, with clients including crowdfunding platform GoFundMe and Bob’s Discount Furniture.

Craig Allen, Holly Petitjean and Niklas Lindström have opened Austin-based agency Callen. Allen was most recently group creative director at Wieden & Kennedy Portland and Lindstrom director of interactive production at Droga5 New York. Wieden is backing the shop with a minority stake.

KBS has appointed Mike Densmore New York president. Densmore joins from BBH.

Stink Studios has hired Marlina Fletcher as managing director in its L.A. office. Fletcher joins from Beats by Dre.

Pablo Del Campo, former worldwide creative director of Saatchi & Saatchi, has opened his own creative agency, Del Campo Global, headquartered in Buenos Aires.
