Industry Update Week(s) of Feb 5th & 12th


Following a six-month review Mercedes-Benz has hired Publicis Groupe as its global agency network. The assignment will span around 40 markets worldwide. The holding company has created a new agency for the Mercedes business named Publicis Emil to be headquartered in Berlin. The remit does not affect the U.S. where Merkley & Partners remains agency of record.

The MLB’s San Francisco Giants have named 215 McCann the team’s new advertising agency of record.

Alaska Airlines has hired Translation to lead its long-term partnership with Kevin Durant. Translation joins the Alaska Airlines’ agency roster along with Mekanism, which has been lead creative agency since 2016. Alaska Airlines spent $18.2 million on measured media in the U.S. in 2016

Hyatt and MullenLowe have parted ways as the hotel chain launches a global review for all 12 of its hospitality brands around the world. Hyatt spent $35.5 million promoting all its brands in 2016.

Following a review, No Nonsense, the legwear brand owned by Kayser-Roth Corp., has named Huge Atlanta its agency-of-record.

The Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine has selected Terri & Sandy as its first-ever agency of record.

Insurance company Aflac has launched a review of its creative business. The firm previously worked with Publicis.

Amy Ferguson and Julia Neumann have joined TBWA\Chiat\Day New York as executive creative directors.

Leo Burnett has promoted Kieran Ots to executive vice president and executive creative director of its Chicago office.

RAPP New York has hired Lucas Zaiden as creative director. Zaiden joins from AKQA San Francisco.

Andrea Mileskiewicz has joined Facebook as creative director. Mileskiewicz joins from MullenLowe Boston where she was most recently VP/creative director.

Kate Morrison has joined 72andSunny Los Angeles as director of production. Tom Dunlap will continue to serve as global production officer for 72andSunny. Morrison was most recently head of production at BBH New York.


Park Pictures has signed director Georgia Hudson for representation in the U.S. and the U.K.

Rohan Blair-Mangat has joined the roster at Caviar.

Above+Beyond films has signed director Sam Ciaramitaro.

Humble has added the Director Brothers (Josh Martin and Ryan McNeely) to its roster.

Director Daniel Sheppard has joined the roster at Backyard for U.S. representation.

Director/DP Andy Maser has joined the roster at Superlounge.

Sanctuary Content has signed Mindcastle, the directing team of Danielle Krieger and Casey Warren, to its roster.

Smuggler has hired Sue Ahn as an executive producer in its L.A. office.

Click 3X has hired David Fisher as managing director and executive producer. Fisher joins from R/GA where he was executive content producer on Samsung Global.


Editor Kyle Valenta has joined the roster at Work Editorial for global representation.

Deluxe sister VFX companies Iloura and Method have officially merged as Method Studios.


Deutsch New York has appointed Husani Oakley as senior vice president and director of technology, a newly-created role at the agency.

VA-based digital agency Grow has hired David Walton Smith as the agency’s first head of film.
