Industry Update Week(s) of June 18th & 25th


Following a review, Pizza Hut has selected GSD&M as its new creative agency of record. Pizza Hut parted ways with incumbent Droga5 earlier this year. The pizza chain spent $226.9 million on measured marketing in the U.S. in 2017.

Following a review, H&R Block has appointed Deutsch as its creative agency of record. The tax services provider spent $142.2 million on U.S. measured media last year.

Following a review, the Edrington Group has named JWT/London as their new global creative agency for The Macallan Scotch whisky brand, with Hudson Rouge/NY contributing to the $15 million account.

Havas New York has been named agency of record for ADP.

Following a review initiated earlier this year, Aflac has decided to retain Publicis, its creative agency of the last several years. Aflac spent $84.3 million on measured media in the U.S. last year.

Video game maker Activision is in the process of reviewing its creative advertising account. Incumbent 72andSunny, which has served as Activision’s agency of record since 2012, will defend the business. The company spent around $70 million on measured media in the U.S. last year.

Following a review, Sony Corporation of America has selected Brooklyn-based Big Spaceship as its brand and creative agency partner to promote its master brand.

Chief creative officer Vann Graves is leaving J. Walter Thompson Atlanta to become director of VCU Brandcenter.

Deutsch has hired Shannon Washington as SVP/creative director in its Los Angeles office. Washington will lead the new H&R Block account. Washington was most recently creative director at Droga5 New York..

FCB Chicago has hired Sam Luchini as SVP/executive creative director. Luchini was most recently creative director at FCB Chicago.

BBH NY has named Ed Zazzera as its head of production. Zazzera was most recently head of production at DDB/NY.

BSSP has hired Ian Boyd as its new content director.


Humble has signed director Natalia Leite to its roster.

Director Greg Popp has joined the roster at Superlounge.

Yard Dog has signed comedy director Tom Feiler.

Sonia Malfa has joined the roster at Good Company.


Wieden+Kennedy has named Andre Gustavo as group brand director, responsible for leading its Nike account globally. Gustavo was most recently managing director of W+K São Paulo.

Barton F. Graf has hired Savanah Brihn as chief strategy officer and promoted Sara Kastner to chief operating officer, a newly-created role at the company.
