Industry Update Week(s) of April 8th & 15th


Diageo has re-consolidated its Johnnie Walker global creative account with Anomaly. Anomaly has been the brand’s U.S. agency since 2014.

Software maker Intuit has launched a review for a global creative agency of record. The review is for Intuit’s primary brand and is said to not affect Intuit’s relationships with Wieden + Kennedy or TBWA\Chiat\Day, which handle TurboTax and QuickBooks, respectively.

Peloton has launched a digital review. The results will not affect Peloton’s relationship with lead creative agency Mekanism.

Winston-Salem-based agency The Variable has been named agency of record Advance America.

Agency Creative/ Producers

McCann New York has promoted Dan Donovan and Wayne Best to deputy chief creative officers. Andrea Gustafson has joined as design director and Gabrielle Shirdan has joined as creative director. Donovan, Best and Gustafson will oversee the agency’s dedicated Verizon unit.

Johannes Leonardo has hired Benton Roman to serve as group executive producer, overseeing the newly awarded Volkswagen account. Roman joins from Goodby Silverstein & Partners.

We Are Unlimited has hired Derek Green as executive creative director.

22squared Atlanta has hired Mara Evans and Bowen Mendelson as VP/creative directors.

Partners + Napier has promoted SVP Mike Baron to executive creative director.

Nathalia Resende has joined BBDO Minneapolis as a creative director. Resende was most recently creative director at 22squared in Atlanta.

Ferdinando Verderi, co-founder and executive creative director at Johannes Leonardo, has been appointed creative director at Vogue Italia. Verderi will retain his ECD title and continue working at the agency.


Industry veterans Mara Milićević and John Duffin have launched Emerald Pictures. Milićević, hailing from the agency side, has served as head of production at KBS+ and was most recently freelance executive producer at Media Arts Lab. Duffin has served as executive producer at Epoch Films and Framestore Pictures.

Division7 has added director Saam Farahmand to its roster for representation in the U.S.

PRETTYBIRD has signed director Rayka Zehtabchi.

Tool of North America has added Emilie Baltz to its Innovation roster.

Director Daryl Wein has joined the roster at Slim Pictures.

Director Gerard de Thame has joined the roster at Mutt Film.

Saville Productions has signed director Patrick Sisam.

The Freise Bros have joined the roster at Contagious.

Bully Pictures has added Lauren Lungerich to its roster.

Director Geordie Stephens has joined the roster at Bullitt.

Honor Society has signed director Julian Pugsley.

Greenpoint Pictures has signed directing duo The Roos Brothers (Logan and Josh) for representation in the U.S.

Art Class has added directors Adam Azimov, Eric Kiel, and Tatjana Green to its roster.


Editor Paul Norling has joined the roster at Stitch.

Company 3 has hired colorist Joseph Bicknell.

Editor Katie Cali has joined the roster at Jump L.A.


Big Spaceship has hired Layne Harris to head up creative technology and innovation.


Accenture Interactive has acquired Droga5. The acquisition effectively ends WME’s ties with Droga5 (the talent agency had acquired a 49 percent stake in the agency in 2013). Droga5 will retain its agency name, and the management team will remain intact. David Droga will remain creative chairman.

Publicis Groupe has acquired data intelligence company Epsilon for an estimated $4.4 billion, the largest deal in the holding group’s 93-year history.
