Industry Update Week(s) of October 21st & 28th


TripAdvisor has named Mother New York global creative agency of record.

Johnson & Johnson has moved its consumer health business in the U.S., comprising its Listerine, Tylenol and Zyrtec brands, to MDC’s Doner from WPP’s dedicated agency solution, The Neighborhood, led by Wunderman Thompson. WPP will shutter The Neighborhood but continues its relationship on the consumer brands outside of the U.S. and with other portions of the Johnson & Johnson account domestically, including pharmaceutical brands.

The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation has appointed The Via Agency its new creative agency.

Following a review, power tool company Chervon has named O’Keefe Reinhard its creative agency of record.

Sovos Brands has selected Butler, Shine, Stern and Partners as lead agency for its noosa yoghurt brand.

Following a review, BMW has named Hill Holliday creative agency of record for its motorcycle business.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has selected AKA NYC as its new agency of record.

Agency Creative/ Producers

BBDO has hired Alex Booker and Philip Sicklinger as executive creative directors on the Ford business in North America. They will be based in New York, but split time between New York and Detroit. They were most recently group creative directors at MullenLowe U.S.

Wunderman Thompson has appointed Taras Wayner as chief creative officer, North America. Wayner joins from Saatchi & Saatchi New York, where he was appointed CCO last year.

Droga5 has made a number of creative leadership promotions: Neil Heymann becomes the agency’s first-ever global chief creative officer, Felix Richter and Tim Gordon will take over Heymann’s former role as co-chief creative officers, Alexander Nowak assumes the new post of global head of art, and Juliana Cobb has been promoted to executive creative director.

Bobby Pearce has been named chief creative officer of Wonderful Agency, The Wonderful Company’s full-service in-house advertising and marketing agency.

Kristen Cooler has joined TBWA Chiat Day in New York as executive producer. Cooler joins from Translation.

Spark44 has hired Josh Rubin and Fred Sanicola as executive creative directors.

VaynerMedia has named Rob Lenois its new chief creative officer. Lenois was most recently deputy chief creative officer at Grey New York.

Hulu has hired Scott Donaton as its new head of creative, a newly-created role at the company. Donaton will be responsible for building out Hulu’s in-house creative practice. Donaton was most recently global chief creative and content officer at Digitas.


Director Matt Spicer has joined the roster at Division7.

Biscuit Filmworks has added Joaquin & Lalou (a directorial duo consisting of Joaquin Baca-Asay and Lalou Dammond) to its roster.

Smuggler has signed Directing duo rubberband (Jason Filmore Sondock and Simon Davis) for worldwide representation.

Bullitt has added The Director Brothers to its roster in the U.S.

Directing collective Shynola has signed with Nexus Studios for worldwide representation.

Director Andreas Roth has joined the roster at JOJX.

Logan & Sons has signed Eva Doležalová.

Chromista has added Sarah Daggar-Nickson to its directorial roster.

Tool of North America has re-signed director John X Carey.

Guy Manwaring has joined Merman for representation in the U.K. and the U.S.

Music video director Allie Avital has signed with Smuggler.


Colorist Mikey Pehanich has joined New York-based visual effects studio Blacksmith.

WAX has promoted Drew Balke to editor.


BBDO has named Greg Hahn creative vice chairman.

JohnxHannes is closing its doors. Founding partners John McKelvey and Hannes Ciatti are splitting up and forming two new agencies: Mirimar, led by McKelvey, and Alto, led by Ciatti. Alto will move forward with the current team at JohnxHannes’ existing New York headquarters.

Endeavor Global Marketing, the creative arm of holding company Endeavor, is taking on the name of the Philadelphia-based agency it acquired last year: 160over90.
